‘Electricity has made angels of us all. Not
angels in the Sunday school sense of being
good or having wings, but spirit, freed from
flesh, capable of instant transportation
anywhere.’ Edmund Carpenter
Recently I’ve been thinking again about conductivity.
The magic of electricity has been with us for much longer than we might expect. The Baghdad Batteries, the earliest known batteries are thought to have been made in Iraq between 250BC and 250AD. It remains uncertain whether the batteries were used for electroplating jewellary or for providing electric shocks as part of a religious experience.
