the culture here seems to be very sound oriented. A lot of information is broadcast by speaker. Shop keepers often have a speaker calling out their wares, travelling sellers broadcast from their vehicles, political rallies are made public by speaker.
It has been good to hear call to prayer again after so long. Each minaret has its own set of speakers and is adorned with glowing green neon strips that come on at sunset. All of the mosques here in Nablus are linked together so that call to prayer is synchronised across the whole city.
Apparently there is one stray mosque that goes of independently of all the others. I have been trying to find out exactly how they are linked but no one has been able to tell me so far.
