I have just been reflection on my latest visit to the Church of the Sepulchre of Saint Mary in Jerusalem.

My first visit to this cavernous underground church in 2007 left me with a lasting impression. The hundreds of gold filagree lamps festooning the ceiling, glowing in the smoky frankincense laden air later provided at least part of the inspiration for Cohesion (2009)

4. Energy Efficiency Bulb

On returning to the church in 2012 I discovered that the festoons of lamps and chandeliers have now been upgraded to contain energy efficient bulbs instead of candles and filament lamps.

Worshippers are now bathed in the permeating blue-white glow of the fluorescent tube.
